Thursday, April 16th, 16 members of MDI Search and Rescue were toned out to the Maine Coast Heritage Trust Cooksey Drive Overlook for a rescue of a hiker who fell 20 to 30 feet.

The rescue required raising the injured hiker and litter attendant to the top of a cliff using a system of ropes and pulleys.

Assisting were Acadia National Park Rangers, Northeast Harbor Ambulance and the Town of Mount Desert's Fire Department.

This was the 1st incident where MDI Search and Rescue followed enhanced precautions because of the COVID-19 pandemic
