Easter is one of three days that large grocery stores, and large retail stores are required to close in Maine, thanks to the "Blue Laws". So if your are planning on grocery shopping this weekend, you'll need to go today, Friday, or tomorrow, Saturday!

The other days in addition to Easter that stores are required to close are Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Maine law requires  any store having more than 5,000 square feet of interior customer selling space be closed on Easter Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Mom and Pop grocery stores, convenience stores may be open on Easter if you have forgotten last minute items for your meal!
