Red Sox-Yankees Game Postponed Thursday Night
The scheduled game between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees at Yankee's Stadium in New York on Thursday, May 30th was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Saturday, August 3rd.
On a positive note for the Red Sox, Nathan Eovaldi worked out on the field prior to the game.
Also prior to the game the Boston Red Sox placed right-handed pitcher Hector Velázquez on the 10-day injured list with a low back strain. To fill Velázquez’s spot on the 25-man roster, the club selected right-handed pitcher Mike Shawaryn from Triple-A Pawtucket. The club’s 40-man roster is now at 40
Shawaryn, who will wear number 73, will be making his first career appearance on a major league roster. The 24-year-old right-hander is 1-2 with a 3.72 ERA (23 ER/55.2 IP) in 10 starts for the PawSox this season, allowing three earned runs or fewer in nine of those starts and two earned runs or fewer in six.
