JD Martinez hit his 41st homer of the season and went 2-4 on the night. He has tied Khris Davis for the major league lead in homers and leads the majors with 122 RBIs and is 2nd in batting average (behind Mookie Betts) .330

Xander Bogaerts scored the winning run on a dropped pop fly in the 8th inning.

Eduardo Rodriguez was outstanding on the mound. He went 6 innings striking out 7, allowing just 1 run on 5 hits. He retired the last 9 batters he faced in a row, before he left with the lead but didn't get the win, as Joe Kelly allowed the tying run to score.

Brandon Workman came on in the bottom of the 8th inning with the bases loaded and 2 outs and struck out the batter on 3 pitches. He ended up with the win, his 5th of the season.

Craig Kimbrel pitched the 9th inning, earning his 40th save of the season.
