Red Sox Fall To Pirates With 16-7 Tuesday to Play Twins on Wedensday

The Boston Red Sox lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates 16-7 on Tuesday, February 24th and will play the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday, February 25th at 1 p.m.

Ranger Suarez started the game and went 1.2 innings and allowed 3 hits, 2 runs, striking out 2. He gave up a home run and threw 33 pitches, 22 of them for strikes.

Wilson Contreras hit a 2-run homer in the 5th inning and Cedanne Rafaela hit a solo homer in the 4th. Trevor Story went 2-3.

The Red Sox are now 2-2 and Minnesota is 2-3. Boston will send Johan Oviedo, Garrett Whitlock, Justin Slaten, Tyler Uberstine, Jake Bennett and Tayron Guerrero to the mound.

Johan Oviedo will make his Red Sox debut. He was acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates on December 4th. He made 9 starts for the Pirates in 2025 and went 2-1 with a 3.57 ERA.
