The Boston Red Sox today, January 18th,  traded infielder C.J. Chatham to the Philadelphia Phillies, in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations

With the trade, Boston's 40 man roster stands at 39.

Chatham, who is 26 26, was selected by the Red Sox in the 2nd round of the 2016 June Draft. In 266 career minor league games, he has hit .298 (305-for-1,024) with 14 home runs and a .739 OPS. Chatham reached the Triple-A level for the 1st time in 2019, appearing in 20 games with Pawtucket and batting .302 (26-for-86) with 2 home runs.

He spent the 2020 season at the Red Sox’ Alternate Training Site in Pawtucket

Boston's first countable Spring Training game is Saturday, February 27th when they play the Pittsburgh Pirates. They play Friday, February 26th against the Northeastern Huskies.

Boston opens the 2021 regular season, Thursday, April 1st against the Baltimore Orioles.
