On Sunday March 17th, the Boston Red Sox announced that Chris Sale will start the Red Sox' 1st game of the season on March 28th at Seattle. It will be Sale's 2nd Opening Day start for Boston.

Prior to today's game against Minnesota at 1 PM (March 18th) the Red Sox announced that Dustin Pedroia would begin the season on the 10 Day Injured List. He will remain in Fort Myers rather than going on the West Coast trip. The Red Sox reiterated that there hasn't been a set-back in Pedroia's recovery from knee surgery, but that it was to give him more time to continue on the conservative pace that had been set.  According to Alex Cora "“He’ll play Tuesday. He’ll play Thursday. He’ll play Saturday. Then he will play one of the two [exhibition] games against the Cubs [next week in Arizona], and then he’ll come back here to keep building up. No setbacks. Nothing out of the ordinary.”

Nathan Eovaldi is scheduled to make his 2nd start of the Spring today. He pitched last Wednesday against the Twins facing 10 batters in 3 innings, allowing just 1 hit and 1 run. He struck out 1 and walked 1.

You can hear today's game on AM 1370 WDEA starting at 1PM. Tomorrow (Tuesday the 19th) the Red Sox will play Toronto at 1PM and then the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday the 20th. The Wednesday game has been moved to a 6PM start, rather than 1PM.

Also prior to the game on Monday, the Red Sox reassigned 11 players to their Minor League Camp.  Sent down were Oscar Hernandez (catcher), Zack Putnam, Erasmo Ramirez, Josh Smith, and Domingo Tapia (pitchers); CJ Chatham, Bobby Dalbec and Chad De La Guerra (infielders) as well as Bryce Brentz, Tate Matheny and Cole Sturgeon.
