Red Sox Sweep Nationals – Win 3-0 On 4th of July
The Boston Red Sox swept the Washington Nationals, winning on the 4th of July 3-0 behind the 6 inning pitching performance of Eduardo Rodriguez.
Rodriguez who was shelled in his last start in New York went 6.0 innings, allowing just 3 hits and striking out 6 and walking 1. Matt Barnes pitched the 7th, Joe Kelly the 8th and Craig Kimbrel the 9th, picking up his 26th save.
Mookie Betts, JD Martinez, Rafael Devers, and Eduardo Nunez each had 2 hits. Martinex, Devers and Jackie Bradley Jr. each had a double.
The Red Sox remained in 1st place, 1 game in front of the New York Yankees who beat the Atlanta Braves 6-2.
