The Boston Red Sox started their West Coast road trip on the right foot, shutting out the San Diego Padres 11-0, as JD Martinez set a career mark driving in 7 RBIs as he blasted two 3-run homers. Boston coasted to a 11-0 win!

Martinez's homers, his 29th and 30th of the season came in the 1st inning and 6th inning. He finished the night 3-4

Rafael Devers was also 3-4, scoring 3 runs, and hit his 48th double of the season.

Xander Bogaerts was 2-3, and Mookie Betts was 2-4. Each hit a double.

Meanwhile, on the mound Eduardo Rodriguez picked up his club leading 15th win of the season, going 7 innings and allowing just 5 hits. He struck out 6 and walked only 1. Josh Smith pitched the final 2 innings. He didn't allow a hit and struck out 1.

Teams wore special uniforms with nicknames for Player's Weekend.

The Red Sox are now 69-61 and 6.5 games out of the final wild card spot. Their magic number for elimination from the playoffs is 18.
