A week ago Red Sox rookie Kristian Campbell was wondering if he was going to make the team and if so, who would be his roommate! Today, Kristian Campbell agreed to a 8-year contract extension through the 2032 season that will pay him 60 million!

The Red Sox also have club options for the  2033 and 2034 seasons

Campbell who is just 22, made his major league debut on March 27 against the Texas Rangers, becoming the Red Sox’ youngest Opening Day starter at second base since Reggie Smith in 1967. In his first 5 career games, the right-handed hitter has batted .375 (6-for-16) with 4 runs scored,2 doubles, 1 home run, 2 RBIs, and 4 walks while making 4 starts at second base and 1 in left field

Last year, his first full minor league season, Campbell batted .330 (142-for-430) with 32 doubles, 3 triples, 20 home runs, 94 runs scored, and 77 RBI in 115 games with High-A Greenville (40 games), Double-A Portland (56 games), and Triple-A Worcester (19 games). He was named in 2024 as Minor League Baseball’s Hitting Prospect of the Year and Breakout Player of the Year, Red Sox Minor League Offensive Player of the Year, Baseball America's Minor League Player of the Year, and Double-A Eastern League Most Valuable Player
