Red Sox Shut Out by Yankees 5-0

For the 1st time in 4 years, the Boston Red Sox will not be the AL East Champions, as the New York Yankees eliminated them from winning the division Monday night, beating the Red Sox 5-0 and taking 3 of the 4 game series. The Red Sox finish the season series with the Yankees 5-14

Eduardo Rodriguez threw a career high 117 pitches taking the loss. He finished the night throwing 6 innings allowing 5 hits, 1 run, striking out 9 and walking 1. He's 17-6 on the season. He has set career highs this season in games (30), starts (30), wins (17), innings pitched (178.2) and strikeouts (177)

The Red Sox managed only 7 hits on the night. Jackie Bradley Jr. had 3 of them, going 3-3 with a double.

Christian Vazquez had 2 hits, and Mookie Betts and Rafael Devers had Boston's other hits.

The Red Sox are still mathematically alive for the last wild card spot, but the tragic number until they are eliminated is 11
