The Boston Red Sox trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the 7th inning rallied to beat the Los Angeles Angels 4-3 to pick up their major league leading 16th come from behind victory on Friday, May 14th at Fenway Park

Bobby Dalbec crushed a 2-run homer in the 7th inning off Tony Watson. It was his 4th homer of the season, and 2nd in as many nights.

Hunter Renfroe, 2-3 on the night, hit a 2-run homer, his 5th in the season to give the Red Sox a lead 2-0 in the bottom of the 2nd inning.

Nick Pivetta pitched well, throwing 6.0 innings. He allowed 4 hits, 2 runs and struck out 7. He had held the Angels scorelss until Shohei Ohtani homered.

Ohtani ended the night, 2-4 with a double and homer. It was his 11th homer of the season.

Matt Andriese picked up the win and is now 2-2, while Matt Barnes earned his 9th save in as many opportunities.

Barnes struck out all 3 batters he faced in the 9th inning, needing only 11 pitches.

The Red Sox are 24-16 and in 1st place in the AL East, 2.0 games ahead of the New York Yankees, and 2.5 games ahead of the Toronto Blue Jays

The Red Sox and Angels will play game 2 of the 3 game series Saturday afternoon with the pregame starting at 3:10 p.m. and 1st pitch at 4:10 p.m. on AM 1370 WDEA.
