The Boston Red Sox had the New York Yankees right where they wanted them! The Red Sox were down 4-3 with 2 outs in the 9th inning and the bases loaded! But, rather than another walk-off win, Xander Bogaerts struck out, and the Red Sox lost to the Yankees 4-3 on Saturday, August 19th.

Chris Sale took the loss for the Red Sox, he's now 14-5. He pitched 7 innings, allowing 7 hits, striking out 9 and walking 1. The problem was he allowed a 3 run homerun to Tyler Austin in the 2nd inning and a solo homer to Todd Frazier in the 6th inning.

Rafael Devers was 2-4 with a homer. It was his 8th homer in 20 career games. He's now hit 5 in his last 6 games.

Jackie Bradley Jr. was 2-4 with 2 singles. He drove in his 50th run of the season and now has 5 RBIs in his last 4 games.

The Red Sox loss and Yankee win cuts the Red Sox's lead to 4 games in the AL East. The two teams will play Sunday afternoon with the pregame starting at 12:45 PM and 1st pitch at 1:30 on AM 1370 WDEA. The Red Sox will send Rick Porcello to the mound, while the Yankees will counter with Sonny Gray.
