Red Sox Losing Streak Hits 6 Play Twins on Wednesday March 13 at 1
It's a good thing that it is just Spring Training, as the Boston Red Sox have now lost 6 games in a row, being outscored 44-10 and out hit 75-31. On Tuesday, they fell to the Tigers 4-3 in David Price's first start of the Spring.
Price went 3 innings, allowing 2 hits and 2 runs. He struck out 4 and walked 2. Matt Barnes, Bobby Poyner, Erasmo Ramirez and Jennry Mejia each threw a scoreless inning in relief.
On Tuesday Blake Swihart had a 9th inning double driving in a run.
On Wednesday, Nathan Eovaldi will make his first appearance of the Spring. The last time he took the mound for the Red Sox was in Game 3 of the World Series when he threw 97 pitches in relief and allowed 2 runs, 1 earned in the 12th through 18th innings.
Prior to Tuesday's game the Red Sox optioned Michael Chavis, Josh Taylor, Travis Lakins and Chandler Shepherd to Triple A Pawtucket. They also optioned Denyi Reyes to Double A Portland. They also reassigned Austin Rei, Rusney Castillo, Tony Renda, Josh Ockimey, Mike Shawaryn and Carson Smith to the minor league camp.
The Red Sox have 47 players in camp now, 33 on their 40 man roster and 14 non-roster invitees.
