Red Sox Lose to Pittsburgh 5-4 Monday, Take on Toronto Tuesday at 1PM

The Boston Red Sox lost their 1st game of the 2019 Spring Training Season, dropping a game to the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4 on Monday, February 25th, as the Pirates scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning.

Bryce Brentz homered for the Red Sox in the top of the 2nd inning, a solo shot. The Red Sox managed only 4 hits off the Pirate's pitching staff.

Brian Johnson started for the Red Sox, and threw the first 2 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 2.

Bobby Poyner pitched a scoreless inning for the Red Sox, striking out 1.

The Red Sox will take on Toronto on Tuesday afternoon, February 26th. The pregame starts at 1PM with the 1st pitch at 1:05. Mike Shawaryn, Josh Taylor and Darwinzon Hernandez are scheduled to pitch for the Red Sox.

The Red Sox will play split-squad games on Wednesday against Baltimore and Tampa Bay. The Baltimore game will be on the radio starting at 1PM. Scheduled to pitch for Boston on Wednesday are Eduardo Rodriguez, Tyler Thornburg and Brandon Workman
