The Boston Red Sox blasted 4 home runs on Tuesday, July 24th but it wasn't enough, falling to the the Baltimore Orioles 7-6 in the middle game of the 3 game series.

JD Martinez hit 2, his 30th and 31st of the season to drive in 3 runs. Blake Swihart hit his 1st of the season and Mookie Betts his 24th of the season.

Drew Pomeranz in his return off the disabled list, lasted 4.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 4 runs, all earned. He struck out 4 and walked 2. Joe Kelly in relief allowed 3 runs on 2 hits, walking 2 in .2 innings of relief

The Red Sox who were trailing 7-3 after 6 innings nearly tied the game in the 9th inning. In the 8th Martinez's 2 run homer made it 7-5. The Red Sox scored in the 9th and Mookie Betts came to the plate with runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out, but his hard grounder was turned into a game ending double play.

The New York Yankees shutout the Tampa Bay Rays 4-0 and now trail the Red Sox by 5 games in the AL East. The Yankees were active before the July 31st trade deadline, acquiring Oriole closer Zach Britton for 3 pitchers. The Yankees play the Rays Wednesday afternoon.

The Red Sox close out their series in Baltimore Wednesday night with David Price (11-6) scheduled to pitch. The pregame starts at 6:20 and 1st pitch at 7:05 on AM 1370 WDEA
