Red Sox Lose to Oakland Again 5-3
The Boston Red Sox lost to the Oakland A's again, this time losing Tuesday night, May 15th 5-3 at Fenway Park. The Red Sox are now 1-4 against the A's this season. they have now lost their last 2 games, 5 of their last 8, and 12 of their last 23.
Eduardo Rodriguez allowd 3 earned runs in 5 innings, giving up 6 hits and striking out 4. He lost his 1st game of the season.
Steven Wright, making his 1st major league appearance in over a year (April 29, 2017) pitched 2.1 innings giving up 2 hits and walking 3. He pitched a scoreless 6th and 7th inning before allowing 2 baserunners in the 8th, who ended up scoring.
Andrew Benintendi went 3-5 with a double and homer, a 437 foot solo blast, his 3rd of the season. Mitch Moreland went 2-3 and had 2 doubles. He now has 9 doubles on the season, 7 of them at Fenway.
Prior to the game, the Red Sox placed reliever Carson Smith on the 10 Day disabled list. He injured his shoulder throwing his glove in the dugout in anger on Monday night after giving up a home run. He's expected to miss a good chunk of time. The Red Sox recalled Bobby Poyner.
