The Red Sox and Twins played 17 innings on Tuesday night-Wednesday morning, the longest game in the history of Target Field. But after 5 hours and 45 minutes, the Red Sox lost 4-3, snapping their 6 game winning streak.
The Red Sox had chances, they were 1-13 with runners in scoring position in the marathon, but struck out 17 times.
David Price started for Boston and went 5 innings striking out 2 and allowing 4 hits and 1 run. 8 relievers went 11.1 innings, striking 14 and allowing 11 hits. Brian Johnson ended up taking the loss allowing the walk-off run in the 17th inning.
Rafael Devers and Mookie Betts each hit solo homers, both their 12th of the season. Andrew Benintendi, Rafael Devers and Brock Holt each had 3 hits. JD Martinez was 0-8, striking out 5 times.
