The Boston Red Sox were shutout by the Tampa Bay Rays Saturday, July 8th, falling 1-0 in a pitcher's duel.

Red Sox pitcher Rick Porcello deserved a better fate than taking the loss as he allowed just 6 hits, striking out 7 and walking no one. He falls to 4-11 on the season.

The Red Sox managed only 3 hits all game, but had a chance to tie the game in the 9th inning. After Mitch Moreland doubled, there were runners on 3rd and 2nd with 1 out. But, Hanley Ramirez struck out. The Rays then intentionally loaded the bases walking Andrew Benintendi. Rather than pitch hit for Chris Young, the Red Sox let him bat, and he popped out to end the game.

With the Red Sox loss and Yankees win, the Red Sox are now 3.5 games in front of the Yankees. The Red Sox and Rays play the final game of the 4 game series, and last game before the All-Star breaks on Sunday afternoon. The Red Sox will send David Price to the mound, with the pregame starting at 12:50 and 1st pitch at 1:35 on AM 1370 WDEA.
