Red Sox Fall to Astros 4-2

The Boston Red Sox fell to the Houston Astros on Thursday night, May 31st by the score of 4-2 in the 1st game of the 4 game series in Houston.

Drew Pomeranz went 5 innings for the Red Sox allowing the 4 runs, all earned on 6 hits. He struck out 5 and walked 2. Steven Wright pitched the final 3 innings, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 4 while walking 3. Pomeranz is now 1-3 on the season.

Jackie Bradley Jr., Andrew Benintendi and Rafael Devers all doubled for the Red Sox. Benintendi was 2-3 and the Red Sox managed just 6 hits off the Astro's pitchers.

Dustin Pedroia was a late scratch, as he was penciled in the starting lineup. The Red Sox were again without Mookie Betts who is considered day to day with "side tightness"

The Red Sox are 1.5 games ahead of the New York Yankees in 1st place in the AL East. The Yankees-Orioles game was rained out on Thursday. They will play Friday.
