The Boston Red Sox started their 3 game trip to Kansas City with a win, as they beat the Royals 8-3 on Tuesday, June 4th.

The Red Sox trailed 2-0 after 5 innings but scored 3 runs in the 6th and added 3 more runs in the 8th inning and 2 more insurance runs in the 9th. The Red Sox had 10 hits.

JD Martinez was 3-5 with a triple. Brock Holt had 2 hits including a double. Andrew Benintendi and Mookie Betts each had a double. Eduardo Nunez hit his 2nd homer of the season, a 3 run shot in the 8th inning.

Eduardo Rodriguez picked up his 6th win of the season, he's 6-3 after throwing 5.2 innings, striking out 7. He allowed 6 hits and 2 runs. Heath Hembree, Marcus Walden and Brian Workman threw 2.1 innings of hitless relief. Ryan Brasier pitching the 9th allowed 1 run.

The Red Sox are now 31-29, 7.5 games behind the 1st place New York Yankees who lost to Toronto 4-2 Tuesday night.
