Marcello Mayer hit his 4th homer of the season, a solo shot in the 2nd inning.

Trevor Story hit a 2-run homer in the 4th inning, his 10th of the season.

Connor Wong had Boston's other hit.

Garrett Crochet went 6.0 strong innings for Boston. He allowed 6 hits and struck out 8, without walking a batter. He picked up the win and is now 7-4 on the season, with a 2.20 earned run average.

Garrett Whitlock cam on for the 7th inning, striking out 1. Aroldis Chapman pitched the 8th, striking out 1 and Greg Weissert picked up his 3rd save of the season walking 1 in the 9th inning. The 3 relievers held Seattle hitless over the last 3 innings.

Boston is now 39-37, in 4th place in the AL East. They are 5 games back of the Yankees. The Red Sox own the 3rd wild card place if the playoffs were to begin today.

Boston is off on Thursday, They start a 3-game series at San Francisco with Rafael Devers and the Giants on Friday. Friday night's pregame begins at 9:15 pm. with the 1st pitch at 10:15 p.m. on WDEA AM 1370.
