Red Sox Beat Twins 6-1 But Lose Casas to Knee Injury [VIDEO]
The Boston Red Sox beat the Minnesota Twins 6-1 on Friday night, May 2nd at Fenway Park, snapping a 2-game losing streak.
The day saw Tristan Casas stretchered off the field in the 2nd inning, in what is being described as a "significant knee injury." Also Walker Buehler was placed on the 15-Day Injured List prior to the game (retroactive to April 29) with right shoulder bursitis. To fill his spot, the club recalled right-handed pitcher Hunter Dobbins from Triple-A Worcester.
The Red Sox did get a little bit of good news on the injury-front as Connor Wong was activated prior to the game after breaking his pinkie. The Red Sox sent Blake Sabol down to Worcester to make room for Wong on the roster. Wong started at catcher and was 1-3 Friday night.
In Friday night's game Brayan Bellow pitched 6.2 innings allowing 4 hits, and 1 run. He struck out 4 and walked 1 but picked up a no-decision as he left with the game tied 1-1.
Justin Wilson retired the last batter in the 7th inning and picked up the win and is now 1-0. Greg Weissert pitched the 8th inning, striking out the side and allowing 1 hit. Liam Hendriks pitched the 9th inning, allowing 1 hit and striking out 1.
Alex Bregman hit a solo homer in the 1st inning and a double in the 7th inning. The home run was his 8th of the season, and now has a 12 game hitting streak.
Rafael Devers was 3-5. He drove in 2 runs with a single in the 7th inning and also had a double in the 6th inning and single in the 8th inning.
David Hamilton was 3-4 with a double and run batted in. He also stole 2nd and 3rd bases in the 5th inning.
Jarren Duran was 1-5 with a run batted in and has an 18 game on-base streak. He was thrown out at the plate after video review reversed the initial safe call.

Boston is 18-16 while the Twins are 13-20. Boston is in 2nd place in the AL East, 2.0 games behind the 1st place New York Yankees. The Red Sox and Twins will play the 2nd game of the 3-game series Saturday afternoon. The pregame begins at 3:10 with the 1st pitch at 4:10 on AM 1370 WDEA.
