Red Sox Beat O’s 5-1 Saturday Night [VIDEO]
The Boston Red Sox survived a 1 hour and 16 minute rain delay to beat the Baltimore Orioles 5-1 on Saturday night as Brayan Bello pitched a gem of a game.
Bello went 6.0 innings and had a no-hitter through 5 innings, before allowing 2 hits and a run in the 6th inning. He struck out 6 and walked 3. He picked up the win and is now 11-5 on the season.
Rafael Devers crushed his 27th homer of the season, a 2-run shot in the 8th inning to give the Red Sox some insurance runs. It was his 199th career homer.
Jarren Duran was 1-5 with a 2-run game-winning single in the 7th inning.
Tyler O'Neil reinstated from the injured list after a leg infection was 2-4 with a run batted in.
Tristan Casas playing 1st base in his 2nd game back from a lengthy stay on the injured list was 2-4.
Masataka Yoshida pinch-hitting, had a double and scored a run.
Prior to the game the Red Sox optioned Nick Sjorgard back down to Worcester to reinstate O'Neil.
On Friday, the Red Sox designated Dominic Smith for assignment to reinstate Casas to the roster. Smith had played in 83 games this season with the Red Sox, batting .237 (59-for-249) with 20 doubles, 6home runs, 34 RBI, and 25 walks while making 65 starts at first base and 4 as the designated hitter.
Boston is now 2.5 games out of the 3rd wild card spot.
Boston and Baltimore will play game 4 of the 4-game series on Sunday afternoon. The pregame begins at 12:35 p.m. with the 1st pitch at 1:35 on AM 1370 WDEA.
