Red Sox Beat Cleveland 6-1
The Boston Red Sox have won 2 out of 3 in Cleveland, after defeating the Indians 6-1 on Wednesday, August 23rd. They were backed by Drew Pomeranz's strong pitching efforts and home runs from Mitch Moreland and Eduardo Nunez..
Pomeranz who left his previous start with back spasms, threw 5.1 innings, allowing just 2 hits and no runs. He struck out 9 and walked 4. Pomeranz is now 13-4 with a 3.18 ERA.
Moreland broke the scoreless game in the 5th inning with his 15th homer of the season.
Nunez was drilled with a retaliatory pitch by Corey Kluber in the 8th inning after taking such a mighty swing he dropped to one knee. Kluber then drilled him in the back. But Nunez got the last laugh, as he hit a 2 run homer in the 9th inning to give the Red Sox insurance runs. It was Nunez's 10th home run.
The Red Sox are now 73-53 and 4.5 games ahead of the 2nd place New York Yankees who beat Detroit Wednesday night, 10-2
