The Boston Red Sox had a chance to put a little separation between themselves and the New York Yankees on Sunday night, July 1st, but David Price was shelled and the Red Sox lost 11-1 putting them back into a 1st place tie with the Yankees.

Price, now 9-6, lasted only 3.1 innings, allowing 9 hits and 8 runs, all earned. He struck out 3 and gave up 5 homers. Aaron Judge and Gleybar Torres went deep in the 1st inning. Aaron Hicks hit 2 homers off of David Price, and 1 off of Hector Velazquez to finish with 3 home runs on the night and Kyle Higashioka hit his first career homer off of David Price.

Meanwhile the Red Sox managed only 4 hits off of 4 Yankee pitchers. Luis Severino picked up the win and is now 13-2. Rafael Devers after going 5-5 on Saturday night was 1-4 with a RBI for the Red Sox.

The Red Sox now open a 3 game series in Washington DC against the Nationals. The Red Sox will send Rick Porcello 9-3 to the mound with the pregame starting at 6:20 and 1st pitch at 7:05 on AM 1370 WDEA.
