Price Earns 150th Career Win Red Sox Sweep Tigers 6-3 [VIDEO]
David Price earned his 150th career win on Sunday, July 7th as the Boston Red Sox completed the 3 game sweep over the Detroit Tigers 6-3 in the last game before the All-Star Break.
After losing 2 games against the Yankees in London, the Red Sox went 5-1 against Toronto and Detroit.
Price, now 7-2 on the season went 5 innings allowing 4 hits and 1 run while striking out 6 and walking 2. Josh Taylor threw 2 innings of hitless relief. Ryan Brasier allowed 2 runs getting 2 outs in the 8th inning before Brandon Workman got the final out in the 8th inning. Heath Hembree earned his 2nd save of the season, pitching the 9th allowing 1 hit.
Christian Vazquez hit his 14th homer of the season, a 2 run shot in the 2nd inning. Xander Bogaerts hit his 20th double of the season, and JD Martinez had 2 hits, including a double.
The win, combined with the Yankees loss to Tampa Bay means that Boston is now 9 games out of 1st place, and 2 games out of the Wild Card. The Red Sox are now off until Friday, July 12th, when they'll host the Los Angeles Dodgers at Fenway Park.
