Police have released the identity of a Bangor Raceway employee who was killed in an accident Wednesday night.

Bangor police Sgt. Tim Cotton says Edwin Reynolds of Machias died after a starting gate vehicle struck him while he was on the track.

The 64-year-old Reynolds was a longtime track employee, who worked as a groundskeeper and stable manager.

Hollywood Casino spokesman Dan Cashman says an internal investigation has been launched and casino officials are cooperating with police in their investigation.

Races scheduled for Monday and Tuesday at Bangor Raceway have been called off and will be rescheduled at a later date.
