No Better Than Betts – Red Sox Beat the Yankees 10-5 [VIDEO]
It was quite a night for Mookie Betts, the Boston Red Sox right fielder, as he homered in his 1st 3 at bats at Fenway Park on Friday July 26th against the New York Yankees. He had a chance to make history becoming the 1st Red Sox player to hit 4 homers in a game, but ripped a double down the left field line in his 4th at bat. Boston beat the New York Yankees 10-5
Betts ended the night 4-5 with 5 runs batted in. He had a career high 14 total bases in the game. The homer to lead-off the game was his 17th of his career, and they are the most by a Red Sox player. He now has a 23 game on-base streak and during that time he is hitting .383 with 10 doubles, a triple, 5 homers and 17 runs batted in. He now leads the major leagues with 96 runs scored.
Rafael Devers, batting 2nd was 3-5 with 2 doubles and a run batted in. He has 32 runs batted in during the month of July, the most by a Red Sox player since David Ortiz had 35 in July of 2006. He now leads the Red Sox with 82 runs batted in.
JD Martinez was 2-4 with a triple and homer with 3 runs batted in.Martinez is batting .438 (14-32) with 9 runs batted in during his last 7 games with 4 doubles, a triple and 2 homers.
