On Monday, February 26, 2024, the Ellsworth City Council announced the appointment of Charles Pearce as the incoming City Manager for the City of Ellsworth.

Mr. Pearce accepted the offer and the City Council will ratify his contract at the March 18th City Council meeting.

Commencing his duties on April 1, 2024, Mr. Pearce will benefit from the guidance and support of the current City Manager, Glenn Moshier, who will actively participate in facilitating a smooth transition.

Last fall, City Council members meticulously reviewed applications from over 30 candidates for the City Manager position. Following this evaluation, finalists underwent interviews, and Mr. Pearce was subsequently invited to the City in early February for a comprehensive council interview, as well as meetings with staff and the community.

With a recent Master's in Public Administration degree from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, coupled with his work background in management positions within the Massachusetts state government, and a strong knowledge of the local area, Mr. Pearce's qualifications align with the City Council's goal to guide Ellsworth thoughtfully into the future.

Current City Manager Glenn Moshier is scheduled to return to his position as Police Chief with the City upon Charles Pearce's appointment as City Manager, but has been on leave from that position since December 2023.
