The Maine Principal's Association canceled the Maine Drama One-Act State Festivals which were scheduled to take place March 20th-21st in Falmouth and Rockland

The Maine Principal Association said

"We have received numerous calls and emails asking many questions regarding COVID-19 and the suspension of activities.

Maine Principals’ Association’s recommendation is to follow the position of many national, state and local groups on suspending activities for the time being. This decision was made with utmost importance for the health, wellness, and safety of the students, staff, and the entire school community.

Because of this, we reluctantly need to cancel our Class A and B Drama State Festivals. Please make sure that your parents and communities are aware of the cancellation."

As of Wednesday, March 11th, MDI and Ellsworth are still planning on performing their winning One Act plays at their respective schools.

MDI presents the Black Rose Showcase, Wednesday, March 18th at 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Demas Theater at MDI High School. This will feature the final local performance of MDI Drama's regional championship production of "A Beautiful Day in November on the Banks of the Greatest of the Great Lakes" by Kate Benson. Admission is by donation.

Ellsworth will perform their award winning play "Selections from Talking With" at Ellsworth High School, on Saturday, March 21st at 7 p.m.
