Area Firefighters Respond to Motor Home Fire at Narrows Too Campground in Trenton
Just before midnight (11:41 p.m.) on Monday night, July 8th the Trenton Volunteer Fire Department was toned out to a motor home fire at the Narrows Too Campground in Trenton, located near the head of Mount Desert Island.
Upon arriving, smoke was visible and moderately heavy. Crews from Ellsworth, Lamoine, Hancock as well as Northern Light Ambulance and Versant Power all responded to assist Trenton.
All occupants and pets were able to escape without injury.
Crews determined that the fire was inside a wall cavity near the washer and dryer. Trenton and Ellsworth fire crews were able to remove the appliance and determined that the fire was in the area of the hot water heater. Crews found heavy charring, melted electrical insulation and fire damage. The fire was determined to have originated in the area of an electrical junction box.
All units cleared the area at about 1 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8th.
There were working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and the Trenton Volunteer Fire Department reminds the public about the necessity and importance of having working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors!
