Prior to Friday night's Boston Red Sox-Tampa Bay Ray baseball game, the Boston Red Sox reinstated first baseman Mitch Moreland from the 10 day Injured List. To make room for Moreland, the Red Sox optioned optioned right-handed pitcher Ryan Weber to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Moreland, 33, was placed on the injured list with a low back strain on May 29, retroactive to May 26. Despite missing Boston’s last 10 games, the first baseman still leads the Red Sox with 13 home runs and a .550 slugging percentage. Among players with at least 150 plate appearances this season, Moreland ranks fourth in the American League in at-bats per home run (11.46) and fifth in at-bats per RBI (4.38)

Weber, 28, was selected to Boston’s major league roster from Pawtucket on May 6 and has appeared in six games with the big league club (three starts), going 1-1 with a 5.12 ERA (11 ER/19.1 IP).
