Major League Baseball suspended Red Sox pitcher Steven Wright 15 games on Friday, March 23rd, for violation of MLB's Domestic Violence Policy.

The 15 game suspension does not take place until he is placed on the active roster, and he will be able to continue Spring Training. Once suspended, he will be placed on the restricted list, and will not count against the Red Sox 25 man roster.

The Red Sox released the following statement

“We fully support MLB’s Domestic Violence Policy, the discipline set forth by the Commissioner’s office, and Steven’s acceptance of the ruling. While we are disappointed that this incident occurred, we are encouraged that Steven is taking meaningful steps to learn from this unfortunate incident."

Wright has agreed not to appeal the suspension.

Red Sox spring training baseball and regular season baseball can be heard on AM 1370 WDEA. The Red Sox open the regular season on Thursday, March 29th.
