Congratulations to MDI High School's Madison Jones and Trenton Elementary Teacher Snow Ross who were two of three awarded $1500 scholarships according to the Portland Press Herald.

The Russell Libby Agricultural Scholarships named in honor of the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association's long time (17 year) executive director are awarded to a High School senior, a teacher or education center and a Maine Organic Farmer and Gardener journeyperson.

Jones, will be attending college in the Fall of 2020 studying sustainable agriculture. She plans on returning after graduation to work on her own farm, named Seal Point Farm.

Ross who has taught for 20 plus years oversees the Trenton Elementary School's Growing Up Green Program. This program utilizes a greenhouse donated by the Rockefeller Estate 15 years ago, and allows for monthly tastings and freshly harvested vegetables to be used in Trenton's cafeteria.
