MDI’s Grubb Scores In Green Mountain’s 1st Game
MDI High School alum Joe Grubb is playing soccer for the Green Mountain College Eagles. The Eagles opened the season at home on Saturday, September 1st and Grubb scored the Eagles first goal. Green Mountain defeated UMPI 2-1
According to the Green Mountain College website
"Green Mountain (1-0-0) had thought it had gotten on the scoreboard in the ninth minute of action as a long-range header by freshman Joe Grubb clipped the crossbar on its way down, but the lead official ruled no goal and kept the contest deadlocked at zeroes.
Grubb wouldn't be denied on this day, however, as he found himself at the right place at the right time to notch his first collegiate goal in the 30th minute. Cameron Book and the UMPI goaltender each made a play for the ball outside the six-yard box. The carom was directed right to Grubb who easily deposited the ball into a gaping net for the 1-0 lead."
Grubb and the Eagles travel to Yeshiva University in Teaneck, New Jersey on Sunday, September 2nd at 3PM
