On a cold Thursday afternoon, more reminiscent of late fall than Spring, the MDI Trojans beat the GSA Eagles 10-4 to start the 2018 Baseball Season in Bar Harbor.

The game was supposed to have been played late afternoon, but the threat of rain moved it to a 12 Noon start. MDI Coach Andy Pooler sent Matt Perconti to the hill and he threw 5.2 innings, scattering 7 hits, while striking out 10. He walked 1  and allowed 1 earned run. Andrew Kennedy threw the final 1.1 innings allowing just 1 hit and striking out 2.

Sam Keblinsky was 2-4 for MDI, driving in 2 runs. Nick Stanley was 2-4 with a double, and scored twice. Alden Fournier batting leadoff was 1-3 with a walk and double. The Trojans stole 4 bases with Fournier, Kebinksky, Kennedy and Perconti each swiping a bag.

Stefan Simmons took the loss for GSA. He threw 3 innings allowing 5 hits, and 7 runs, although only 2 were earned. He walked 2 and struck out 2.
