MDI Volleyball Beats Ellsworth 3-1 on Senior Night [PHOTOS]

The MDI Volleyball Team beat Ellsworth 3-1 in the final game of the 2023 regular season. The game was played in Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor, with the individual set scores 25-20, 25-21, 22-25, 25-22

MDI Coach Corey said

Tonight was senior night and we knew that if we wanted the season to continue we were going to have to step up and defeat Ellsworth. And the team did just that. The seniors were fired up, with the rest of the team behind them, and they got the job done. And our season goes on. Now we’ll start preparing for Greely on Thursday!

Molly Redgate: 1 ace, 30 receptions, 1 assist, 17 digs
Hailey Vogell: 5 aces, 8 kills, 3 blocks, 13 digs
Denali Wagstaff: 4 aces, 1 kill, 17 assists, 5 digs
Maya Watson: 2 aces, 4 kills, 2 blocks, 2 digs

Individual Ellsworth standouts included

Ava Van Dorn 3 aces, 10 assists and 9 digs.
Brielle Grindle 8 kills and 10 digs.
Olivia Harmon 1 ace, 4 kills, 8 assists, and 11 digs.
Sophie Beal 1 ace, 4 kills, 6 blocks, 2 assists and 9 digs.
Brooke Pirie 3 kills and 4 blocks.

Ellsworth's JV Team, coached by Alli Dorr, completed their regular season with a win over MDI. The set scores were: 25-21, 25-15 and 7-15, and finished with a perfect record of 14-0. This is the first time an Ellsworth volleyball team has gone undefeated.

The JV Team plays in a local tournament at Ellsworth Elementary Middle School on Wednesday, starting at 4 p.m.
