The MDI Trojans Football Team beat the Waterville Panthers 28-6 at Colby College in Waterville, on Friday, September 19th as the Trojan's Defense forced 5 turnovers and held Waterville to just 94 yards.

Asa Joyce had 2 interceptions, and Tysen Mace had a pick for the Trojans. Lincoln Gray forced a fumble, which Asa Joyce recovered.

MDI scored 1st with 5:24 left in the 1st Quarter, when Kenneth Stilwell ran in from 14 yards out. The 2-point conversion was good, and MDI led 8-0.

After an interception MDI scored again. This time Stilwell ran in from 18 yards out, and then completed the 2-point conversion. The drive took 47 seconds, and withe 3:43 left to play in the 1st Quarter, MDI led 16-6.

Waterville scored with 8:14 left in the 1st Half, when Evan Delaware recovered a fumble in the end zone, The 2-point conversion was no good and MDI led 16-6. Waterville's drive looked to be stalled, but MDI was whistled for a face mask penalty, allowing Waterville to convert the 3rd down play on the next play.

Ripley Hawkins ran in for a 1 yard touchdown with 37.5 seconds left in the 1st Half. The 2-point conversion was no-good, and MDI led 22-6 at the end of the 1st Half.

MDI led 22-6 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. MDI looked to have scored with 5:56, but the referees ruled that Ripley Hawkins stepped out of bounds on the 1 foot line, before hitting the pylon on a 4th down play.

Kenneth Stillwell scored his 3rd touchdown of the game, with 5:32 left, running in from 25 yards out. The 2-point conversion was no-good, and MDI came away with the 28-6 win.

MDI did not run a passing play, but ran the ball 53 times for 262, going old-school, pounding the rock, and eating clock. MDI outgained Waterville 262 total yards - 94 yards.

Waterville is now 0-3. They will travel to Ellsworth to play the Eagles on Friday, September 26th at Ellsworth High School with the kickoff at 7 p.m.
