MDI Trojans Down Ellsworth 52-14 [PHOTOS]
The MDI Trojans defeated the Ellsworth Eagles 52-14 in their 1st ever regular season matchup in Bar Harbor, on Friday, October 15th in their last regular season game.
Ellsworth won the coin toss and deferred, preferring to kickoff and receive the ball in the 2nd Half.
MDI took over at their own 28 yard line, and it only took 2 plays and 15 seconds before they were in the end zone. Spencer Laurendeau completed a 52 yard pass to AJ Lozano for the touchdown. The 2 point conversion and with 11:38 remaining in the 1st Quarter MDI was up 8-0.
Ellsworth took over on their own 32 yard line, and on their 1st play fumbled the ball. Alex Gray picked up the ball and returned it for a 32 yard touchdown. The 2 point conversion was no good, but MDI led 14-0 with 39 seconds gone in the 1st Quarter.
Ellsworth took over on their own 26 yard line but were unable to move the ball, and was forced to punt.
MDI took over at the Ellsworth 49 yard line, with 10 minutes remaining in the 1st Quarter. MDI marched the ball down the field, and Brendan Graves powered in from 1 yard out for the touchdown. Graves ran the ball in for the 2-point conversion. The drive took 2:20 and with 7:40 remaining in the 1st Quarter MDI was up 22-0
Ellsworth took over on their own 26 yard line, and turned the ball over on downs.
MDI took over on the Ellsworth 29 yard line, with 6:14 remaining in the 1st Quarter. 1 play later the Trojans were in the end zone, as Laurendeau connected again to Lozano, this time for a 29 yard pass. The 2-point conversion was good, and with 6:07 remaining in the 1st Quarter MDI led 30-0.
Ellsworth took over on their own 40 yard line, but the Eagles were forced to punt again.
MDI took over at their 31 yard line. 54 seconds later the Trojans were in the end zone for their 5th touchdown in the 1st Quarter. Brendan Graves ran in from 8 yards out, and also converted the 2-point conversion. With 4:19 remaining in the 1st Quarter, MDI was up 38-0.
Ellsworth returned the kickoff to the 23 yard line, but were forced to punt yet again.
MDI took over at their own 24 yard line. The Trojans were in the end zone again. This time it was a 25 yard pass from Laurendeau to Brendan Graves. The 2-point conversion was good, and MDI led 46-0 with 14 seconds remaining in the 1st Quarter.
Ellsworth returned the punt to their own 11 yard line, and turned the ball over on downs.
MDI took over on their own 30 yard line with 9:48 remaining in the 1st Half. The Trojans scored again, this time on the ground. Alex Gray rumbled in from 7 yards out. The 2-point conversion was no good and MDI led 52-0 with 7:32 left in the 1st Half.
In the 3rd Quarter Ellsworth scored when Jack Johnston scored from 6 yards out. The 2-point conversion was good when Camden Barker completed a pass to Isiah Corson. The score was 52-8
Ellsworth scored again before game was over, when Obrian Robinson ran in from 2 yards out. The 2-point conversion was no good to make the final score 52-14
MDI finishes the regular season 2-4, while Ellsworth finishes 0-4. These 2 teams will meet on Friday or Saturday, October 22nd or 23rd in Bar Harbor for a prelim game. That game will be broadcast on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device. It will also be on AM 1370 WDEA if the Red Sox are not scheduled to play during the game
