The MDI Trojans beat the Morse Shipbuilders 34-14 on Friday night, September 27th on Alumni Field in Bar Harbor.

The MDI Defense had an outstanding game, forcing 3 turnover on downs, and intercepting Dylan Root, the Morse quarterback twice in the game.

MDI won the coin toss and elected to defer, getting the ball 1st in the 2nd Half, and kicking off to start the game.

MDI's defense forced a turnover on downs, and the Trojans took over on their 21 yard line with 5:43 left to go in the 1st Quarter. It took the Trojans 5:14 to score. Cal Hodgdon threw a 5 yard pass to Jarron Biekert for the touchdown.  Nate Olson ran the ball in for the 2-point conversion and MDI led 8-0 with 29 seconds left in the 1st Quarter.

Morse then scored on their next series, when Root, ran in from 2 yards out. The Shipbuilder drive went 80 yards and took 9:30. When the 2-point conversion was good, the game was tied at 8-8 with 2:57 left in the 1st Half.

MDI took over on their 33 yard line, and scored on a Hodgon to Evan Mackenzie 5-yard pass. Mackenzie made a spectacular 1-handed catch for the touchdown. The 2-pont conversion was good and MDI led 16-8 with 41.3 seconds left in the 1st half.

James Downey then intercepted Root to stop the Morse drive, and MDI ran out the clock to take a 16-8 lead at the end of the 1st Half.

MDi took over on the Morse 42 yard line after a great kick return, and scored on a 1 yard Hodgdon quarterback keeper. The 2-point conversion was no good, and MDI led 22-8. The Trojan drive took 4:47

MDI's defense then forced Morse to turn the ball over on downs, and MDI took over with 5:33 left in the 3rd Quarter on the Morse 20 yard line. It took just 1:41 and MDI was back in the end zone as Hodgdon found Biekert for a 11 yard pass. The 2-point conversion was no good, and MDI led 28-8  with 3:49 left to go in the 3rd Quarter.

Biekert then intercepted Root on the next series, and MDI took over on the Morse 45 yard line with 59.2 seconds left to go in the 3rd Quarter.

Evan Mackenzie then ran the ball in from 42 yards, on a drive that took just 51.6 seconds. When the 2-point conversion was no good, MDI led 34-8 with 7:61 left to play.

After Morse turned the ball over on downs and MDI punted, the Shipbuilders would score their final touchdown on a Nick Haeberlin 13 yard touchdown run, with 2:45 left to play. The 2-point conversion was no good. The score was 34-14.
