The MDI Trojans Football Team ran over John Bapst 52-8 in Bar Harbor on Friday, October 12th at Homecoming and Senior Recognition Night. Elijah Joyce, playing his last home game had a monster night, rushing for 324 yards on 15 carries, scoring 5 touchdowns.

MDI won the coin toss and as per their custom, elected to defer, getting the ball in the 2nd Half. Kicking off, John Bapst took over on their own 28 yard line.

John Bapst went 3 and out, and were forced to punt the ball. MDI took over on their own 26 yard line with 10:13 left in the 1st Quarter.

It only took 1 play, as Elijah Joyce scampered for a 74 yard touchdown. Joyce ran in for the 2 point conversion and MDI was up 8-0.

John Bapst took over on their own 29 yard line and went as far as the 49 yard line before being forced to punt again. The Crusaders downed the ball on the MDI 5 yard line,

MDI, taking over with 6:37 left in the 1st Quarter needed just 3 plays and Joyce was back in the end zone, this time with a 88 yard touchdown run. Ethan Harkins ran in for the 2 point conversion. The drive took 1:44 and with 5:03 remaining in the 1st Quarter, MDI was up 16-0.

John Bapst started on their own 38 yard line after a good return, but MDI's defense forced another Crusader punt and MDI took over on their own 33 yard line with 3:00 remaining in the 1st Quarter.

The Trojans fumbled the snap, and John Bapst recovered, and had great field position, taking over at the MDI 24 yard line with 3:18 remaining in the 1st Quarter.

MDI's defense forced a fumble by Quinn Mitchell, and MDI ended up taking on their own 9 yard line with 1 minute remaining in the 1st Quarter.

The Trojans ended up taking 4:57 off the clock before punting again, and the Crusaders took over on their own 34 yard line.

Sam Hoff ended up picking off Wilson Higgins' pass and MDI took over on the Crusader 11 yard line.

1 play later, Joyce scored again, running in from 11 yards out. Joyce ran in for the 2 point conversion and with 7:03 remaining in the 1st Half, the Trojans led 24-0.

John Bapst returned the kick-off to their own 42 yard line, but had to punt and MDI took over at their own 29 yard line with 5:35 remaining in the 1st Half.

The Trojans drove down the field. Hunter Gray scored on a 40 yard run, in a 5 play drive that took 2:16. The 2 point conversion was no good, and MDI led 30-0 with 3:23 remaining in the 1st Half.

John Bapst would turn the ball over on downs, and MDI ran the clock out, leading 30-0 at the end of the 1st half.

In the 1st Half, MDI had 297 rushing yards on 16 carries, while limiting John Bapst to 19 yards on the ground on 19 carries and 38 yards in the air.

The Trojans took over on their own 31 yard line but were forced to punt on their opening possession of the 2nd Half.

John Bapst took over at midfield, at the 50 yard line. 5 plays and 1:55 later, Quinn Mitchell was in the end zone after receiving a pass from Higgins. The 2 point conversion was good, with Higgins completing a pass to Rhett McDonald. MDI was up 30-8 with 8:48 remaining in the 3rd Quarter.

MDI returned the kick to their own 49 yard line. 1 play later Joyce was in the end zone again, rushing for 51 yards. The 2 point conversion was good, with Landsman completing a pass to Ethan Harkins. With 8:34 remaining in the 3rd Quarter, MDI was up 38-8

John Bapst took over at their own 45 yard line but MDI's defense forced the Crusaders to turn the ball over on downs, and MDI took over at their own 43 yard line with 6:57 remaining in the 3rd Quarter.

John Bapst took over at their own 25 yard line and brought the ball all the way down to the Trojan 5 yard line. But Sam Hoff intercepted his 2nd pass of the game and returned the ball 74 yards , getting the ball down to the 23 yard line with 10:09 remaining in the game.

Joyce scored his 5th touchhdown, this time a 5 yard run. Jakob Gregory kicked the extra point, and with 7:43 remaining in the game, MDI was up 45-8.

MDI's Gilbert Isaacs  recovered a fumble after Bapst's Higgins was sacked.

MDI would score their final touchdown of the game with 2:27 remaining in the game. Freshman quarterback Nik Hachey attempted to pitch the ball but Archer Hill broke through the line, and picked off the pitch, for a pick-6, scoring from 11 yards out. Gregory kicked the extra point, and that made the final score 52-8.
