MDI Rallies Late But Defense Falters and Bapst Steals a Win 6-5
The MDI Trojans Baseball Team was trailing 3-0 going into the bottom of the 6th inning, but then the bats heated up and the Trojans scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to take a 5-3 lead. But the defense faltered, and the Crusaders scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th inning to steal a victory from the Trojans in Bar Harbor on Saturday afternoon, May 12th.
The Trojans committed 7 errors in the game.
Andrew Kennedy was the tough luck loser for MDI, pitching a complete game. He allowed 6 runs, but only 1 was earned. He scattered 9 hits and walked 2 and struck out 2.
Alec Gagnon picked up the win for John Bapst. He went 6 innings, allowing 5 runs, all earned and walked 6 while striking out 4. He gave up 7 hits. James Butler picked up the save pitching the 7th.
Liam Sullivan was 2-3, driving in 2 runs for MDI. Finn McConomy had a double. Alden Fournier, Nick Stanley, Eric Merchant and Andrew Kennedy each had a single for the Trojans. McConomy stole a base
For John Bapst Ben Spear, Jonathan Archambault and Ben Southwick had 2 singles each. Jack Dalton, Joseph Murphy and Ethan Newcomb each had a single for the Crusaders.
MDI, now 7-3 plays at Belfast on Tuesday, May 15th at 4 PM.
John Bapst now 6-5 plays host to Foxcroft Academy on Tuesday, May 15th at 4:30 PM.
