MDI Hospital announced visitor restrictions that went into effect on Friday, March 27, 2020 to help help prevent the spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) and protect  patients, community and staff.

Visitation Suspended at MDI Hospital

  • Visitation is now suspended at MDI Hospital
  • Specific exceptions may be made for compassionate care, OB, pediatric, ER and oncology patients
  • These exceptions may allow patients to have one support person accompany them
  • For pediatric patients, we ask that only one parent or guardian accompany their child or children

Health Center Visitor Restrictions
Limited visitation is permitted at our health centers during operating hours. Please consult your health center for current operating hours.

  • Limit one visitor per patient for health center visits
  • Care teams can make exceptions in specific circumstances (i.e. pediatric patients, compassionate care)
  • For pediatric patients, we ask that only one parent or guardian accompany their child or children

Main Entrances Only
For your protection, patients may only enter MDI Hospital through our main entrance. MDI Hospital Health Centers will also have a single point of entry.

Health Screenings on Entry
All patients and visitors (permitted at health centers or by exception only) will be screened for health upon entry. If you have traveled in the last 14 days or have a fever, dry cough or shortness of breath, please call 207.801.5900 for guidance before entering.

Public Meetings and Events
All meetings and events open to the public scheduled to be held at Mount Desert Island Hospital & Health Centers are suspended and closed to the public until further notice.
