The MDI Trojans Football Team went "old school" Friday night, pounding "the rock" and going back to a ground and pound offense. The result...A 22-0 shutout victory for the Trojans in Hampden and the 1st victory for the Mark Arnold era.

The Trojans carried the ball 57 times for 381 yards, with Elijah Joyce carrying the ball 36 times for 314 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The defense which gave up huge gains on the ground last week against Oceanside, was stellar against Hampden, limiting the Broncos to just 18 yards on the ground.

Hampden won the coin toss and elected to receive. Taking over on the MDI 46 yard line, the Trojan's defense forced Hampden to punt the ball, and the Trojans took over at their own 31 yard line with 10:28 left in the 1st Quarter.

It took them 5 plays and Elijah Joyce ran in from 25 yards out. The 2 point conversion was no good, as MDI committed a couple penalties to move the ball back to the 15 yard line. With 8:49 left in the 1st Quarter, MDI led 6-0.

Hampden took over at their own 46 yard line, and again MDI's defense forced a punt. The Trojans took over on their own 42 yard line with 7:06 left in the 1st Quarter.

In a drive that took 9 plays and 4:05, Joyce capped it off with a 6 yard touchdown run. This time the 2 point conversion was good, with Joyce rumbling in, and with 3:01 left in the 1st Quarter, MDI was up 14-0.

Hampden took the kickoff back to their own 20 yard line. Hunter Gray picked off William Hodgdon's pass, and MDI took over at the Hampden 37 yard line with 30.2 seconds left in the 1st Quarter.

MDI turned the ball over on downs, and Hampden had the ball at their own 34 yard line with 11:06 left in the 1st Half.

Hampden was forced to punt again, and MDI took over at Hampden's 47 yard line with 10:04 remaining in the Half. They ate up almost 5 minutes, before turning over the ball on downs, and Hampden took over on their own 20 yard line with 5:17 remaining in the Half.

Again, MDI's defense forced Hampden to punt, and the Trojans took over on the Bronco 46 yard line with 3:30 left.

The Trojans were within a couple of yards of scoring their 3rd touchdown, but fumbled and the ball was recovered in the end zone by the Broncos for a touchback.

Hampden took over on the 20 yard line, and moved the ball nearly to midfield before time expired, and at the end of the 1st Half, the Trojans led 14-0.

The Trojans took the 2nd Half kickoff at their own 36 yard line. They then executed a clock eating 15 play drive that took 8:17 before turning the ball over on downs.

Hampden took over on their own 18 yard line with 3:38 left in the 3rd Quarter and MDI forced another punt.

MDI mishandled the punt, and the Broncos took over at MDI's 44 yard line with 1:07 left in the 3rd Quarter.

MDI's defense forced a turnover on downs, and the Trojans took over on their own 26 yard line with 11 minutes remaining.

6 plays and 2:35 later, Joyce ran in from 35 yards out for the touchdown. Joyce followed up with the 2 point conversion to make it 22-0 with 8:25 left. in the game.

Hampden then threw another interception, with Sam Hoff picking off Hodgdon.
