The MDI Girls Soccer Team traveled to the University of Maine Orono to take on the John Bapst Crusaders and came away victorious, winning 4-3 on a hot late summer afternoon, on Saturday, September 15th.

John Bapst scored first with just 5 minutes having elapsed in the 1st Half, as the Crusaders volleyed a corner kick into the goal mouth and the ball deflected off a MDI defender.

Maddy Candage tied the score, with 24:56 left in the 1st Half when Rachel Leonard's pass met a cutting Candage.

John Bapst took a 2-1 lead with 17:05 left in the 1st Half when Megan O'Conoor scored.

Leila Weir knotted the score at 2-2 for MDI with 8:26 left in the 1st Half  on a long range shot over the Crusader goalkeeper.

MDI took a 3-2 lead in the Half, when a throw-in by Zoe Olson found Julia Rush who lofted the ball over the hands of the Bapst 'keeper with just 13.7 second left in the Half.

John Bapst scored the equalizer with 27:21 remaining in the game. But Maddy Candage scored her 2nd goal of the game, and the game winner with 17:42 remaining when she scored in the left corner.

MDI's Sabine Costello-Sanders stopped 8 shots while John Bapst's Amanda Bustard had 6 saves.

MDI, now 3-1 plays host to Ellsworth on Tuesday, September 18th at 6PM.

John Bapst, 0-3, plays host to Washington Academy on Tuesday, September 18th at 4PM.
