MDI Girls Basketball Team Beats Brewer 37-20

The MDI Girls Basketball Team beat Brewer 37-20 at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor on Wednesday, December 4th in the final preseason tuneup for both teams.

MDI jumped out to a 11-7 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Elena Alderman had 7 points including a 3-pointer while Olivia Gray and Elizabeth Jones added 2 points each for MDI. For Brewer Grace Robertson had 2 points, Kathryn Austin 2 points going 2-2 from the free throw line and Brooke Merrow was 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 2nd Quarter MDI outscored Brewer 7-2 to take a 18-7 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Elizabeth Jones was 4-8 from the free throw line for MDI, while Grace Witham scored 2 points and Rachelle Swanson was 1-2 from the free throw line. Robertson scored Brewer's 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter MDI outscored Brewer 7-5 to increase their lead 25-12. Olivia Gray had a 3-pointer for MDI while Emily Carter and Leah Carroll each had 2 points. For Brewer Mackenzie Dorr hit a 3-pointer and Merrow added 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter MDI outscored Brewer 12 -8 to make the final score 37-20. MDI was led by Leah Caroll with 7 points including a 3-pointer, while Elena Alderman hit her 2nd 3-pointer and Molly Ritter added 2 points. For Brewer Merrow had 4 points, Mackenzie Dore hit her 2nd 3-pointer of the night and Riley Umel was 1-2 from the free throw line.

MDI was led by Elena Alderman with 10 points while Leah Carroll had 9 points. The Trojans were 5-16 from the free throw line.

Brewer was led by Brooke Merrow with 7 points while Mackenzie Dorr had 6 points. The Witches were 4-9 from the free throw line.

MDI opens the regular season Saturday, December 7th at 4:30 p.m. in Houlton. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.

Brewer will open the season Friday night, December 6th at Nokomis High School in Newport at 6:30 p.m.
