MDI Football Loses to Belfast 30-22 A Tale of Two Halves
It was a tale of two halves as MDI went into the half-time Friday night, September 28th leading the Belfast Lions 22-0. MDI was thoroughly dominant on both sides of the ball, as they scored on three of their four possessions in the first half, while forcing Belfast to punt time after time. MDI seemed to have mastered the very poor field conditions and the rain. The only thing that went wrong for MDI in the first half was an injury to Trevor Alley.
The second half was a completely different story. Belfast came down the field on their first possession and scored. MDI then appeared to have a problem with the ball, as they fumbled at least five times in the second half. Unfortunately in high school football, if you lose the turn-over battle, you often lose the game. MDI's offense was never able to get untracked in the second half, and the Belfast offense kept the MDI defense on the field for the better part of the second half.
Here are the MDI offense stat highlights and Defense leading tacklers courtesy of Jack Merrill
