The MDI Football Team lost a heartbreaker 15-14 to the Waterville Panthers on a chilly Friday night, October 4th at Waterville. It was Waterville's homecoming and the Panthers 1st victory of the season.

MDI won the toss and elected to receive, taking the ball on their own 37 yard line. 8 plays and 3:46 later, Porter Isaacs scored from 8 yards out, standing up in the end zone. Hunter Gray ran in the 2 point conversion, and MDI led 8-0

Waterville took over on their own 35 yard line and were forced to punt, with MDI taking over on their own 42 yard line with 6:21 left in the 1st Quarter.

But the Trojans fumbled the ball and Waterville recovered it on their own 37 yard line with 2 minutes left in the 1st Quarter.

MDI's defense forced the Panthers to punt, with MDI taking over on their own 25 yard line, with 11:56 remaining in the 1st Half.

MDI was set to punt, but instead faked, with the ball being hiked to Porter Isaacs who would ran for the 1st down, before having the ball stripped from his hands. Waterville recovered on the MDI 48 yard line with 8:33 remaining in the 1st Half.

Waterville scored in 47 seconds, capped off by quarterback Liam Von Oeson running in from 26 yards out. Von Oeson ran in for the 2-point conversion, and the game was tied 8-8.

MDI then punted and Waterville took over on their own 17 yard line, subsequently turning over the ball on downs.

MDI took over on their own 48 yard line with 2:06 remaining in the Half, and Jack Hodgdons pitched the ball to Will Hodgdons who attempted a half-back pass. It was picked off, with Waterville taking over on their own 48 yard line with 38.2 seconds remaining.

Waterville nearly scored with no time remaining as Von Oeson scrambling ran down the sidelines 41 yards line before being tackled by MDI's lone defensive back.

The score remained tied at the end of the 1st Half 8-8.

Waterville received the ball to start the 2nd half, taking over on their own 44 yard line. They turned the ball over on downs, with MDI taking over on their own 45 yard line, with 6:55 remaining in the 3rd Quarter.

It took the Trojans 2:14 to score, with Porter Isaacs scoring his 2nd touchdown of the game, this time from 12 yards out. The 2-point conversion was no good, and MDI led 14-8 with 4:41 remaining in the 3rd Quarter.

Waterville taking over on their own 38 yard line, again turned the ball over on downs, with MDI taking over on their own 20 yard line with 9:37 remaining in the game.

The Trojans were forced to punt, and Waterville took over on their own 20 yard line. The Panthers went down the field, taking 4:22, before Trafton Gilbert scored from 2 yards out, to tie the score at 14-14. The Panthers went for the extra point kick, and Nate Weir's kick was good, putting Waterville up top 15-14.

MDI took over at their own 37 yard line, and Baylor Landsman returned from his injury to attempt to move the Trojans into the end zone with 2:04 remaining. Landsman was 3-8 passing in the final drive for 52 yards. But the Panthers defense bent, but wouldn't break, and the Trojans ended up turning the ball over on downs.

Waterville took a knee and came away with their 1st victory of the season.
