The MDI Football Team fell to Orono 34-22 at Homecoming on Alumni Field in Bar Harbor on Friday night, October 10th.

Orono outgained MDI 385-382 in total yards. MDI had the rushing advantage, outgaining Orono 373 yards to 318 yards.

Kason Bagley, Orono's quarterback consistently frustrated MDI's defense with his scrambling, evading huge sacks and either running the ball or getting off passes when he looked like he would be sacked for losses. He was only sacked twice.

Richie Watson ripped off 3 huge runs, for 23 yards, 90 yards and 55 yards, for touchdowns proving to be elusive as MDI had difficulty in tackling the junior who was constantly spinning and cutting to avoid MDI's defense.

Orono had 2 long touchdown runs called back because of penatlies.

MDI was able to move the ball effectively against Orono's defense, with Kenneth Stillwell and Asa Joyce running the ball 42 times. But the Trojans turned the ball over 3 times, with 2 interceptions and a fumble.

MDI's defense had a huge goal line stand as the 3rd quarter came to a close, stopping the Red Riots with 1st and goal, and eventually taking over on downs at their own 1 yard line.

Here is the scoring summary.
